KLAMATH FALLS — Allison Waters scored in the eighth minute for Crater, but Henley tallied an equalizer two minutes later which proved to be the last goal of the match as the Comets and Henley settled for a 1-1 tie in nonleague girls soccer action Thursday.

On the Comets’ lone goal, senior defender McKenna Gugliotta sent a direct free kick deep to Waters, who fired a shot from about 35 yards away that was right on the money.

Besides Gugliotta and Waters, Crater head coach Bryton Kiger praised keeper Lauren Noyes, who had several big saves for the Comets (3-0-3), and freshman center back Mia Tewes.

Henley is 1-2-1 on the season.

PHOENIX 0, COTTAGE GROVE 0: At Klamath Union, Marcella Badillo recorded 12 saves to help Phoenix preserve a nonleague tie with Cottage Grove.

The Pirates’ Maggie Carrillo had three of the squad’s six shots on goal. Lizabeth Parra and Lupita Alegria excelled for the Pirates (1-1-1).
