PREP BASKETBALL: Bulldogs edge Grizzlies

    NORTH BEND — Despite one of KJ Pippa’s best all-around performances of the season, the Ashland boys basketball team fell short against North Bend in Midwestern League play Monday, 65-62.

    Pippa, a senior guard, scored 18 of his 27 points in the second half when the Grizzlies (6-13, 2-10 MWL) rallied from a 37-24 halftime deficit.

    Ashland also received 14 points from Nate Desmond and 10 from Logan Sanford.

    Jayden Frank went for 25 points for the Bulldogs (8-11, 3-10).

    NORTH BEND 39, ASHLAND 36: At North Bend, Jayd Sollinger paced Ashland with 12 points and came close to making a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer of the Midwestern League game.

    The Grizzlies (6-14, 2-11 MWL) also received 10 points, six rebounds and six steals from Nina Munson, and Kendyl Abel pulled down eight rebounds to go with her five points.

    North Bend improved to 12-9 overall and 7-7 in MWL play.
