EAGLE POINT — Fifth-ranked Thurston capitalized on its opportunities Wednesday to pull away for a 63-25 victory over host Eagle Point in Midwestern League boys basketball.

Led by senior standout Isaac Lange’s 23 points, the visiting Colts were able to turn a 15-7 lead after one quarter into a 31-10 edge by halftime to put the Eagles (2-19, 0-14 MWL) in an unrecoverable hole.

“They’re good and we hit a point where we just kind of put our heads down,” said Eagle Point head coach Cecil Felkins. “We had a lot of missed shots and we didn’t rebound very well on the offensive glass. We took some quick shots and they turned those defensive rebounds into points.”

Eagle Point leading scorer Hayden Neyt was held to one point, while Logan Esquibel led the team with eight points and Tre McGarrell added seven.

Thurston (18-5, 11-4) also got 16 points from Mason Miller.
