Spartans lose lead, fall in OT

    Cole Parker scored late in regulation to force overtime and Joshua Hodroff netted the game-winner with less than three minutes to go in the extra session as the Ontario Avalanche beat the Southern Oregon Spartans 4-3 in Western States Hockey League action Friday at The RRRink.

    Down 2-0 early in the second period, the Spartans (17-28) scored three straight goals — two by Eric Vanderhoff — to take a 3-2 lead, but couldn’t hang on.

    Axel Low and Hayde Moistner had two assists apiece, and goalie Kayden Pickles 44 saves for the Spartans.

    Brett Ruiz had two goals and two assists for the Avalanche (16-27).
