1919 - 2018
To those of us watching, it would appear Eldora orchestrated her passing to heaven as she planned events here on earth; celebrating her family, her friends, her love for Jesus Christ and His teachings.
Eldora grew up in a small farming town in Minnesota, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Ed. They started life together in Eugene and migrated to Ashland in 1942. Eldora was active in her three sons' education through the Ashland schools, serving in various leadership positions with the PTA and as President of the Southern Oregon College Mothers' Club.
Church was always an important part of Eldora's life. She was active in the Christian Women's group and taught Sunday School. She also volunteered her time with The Pink Ladies of Ashland Community Hospital, Professional Women's Club, and as an Election Board Chair.
She and Ed became "snowbirds" after retirement, wintering in Yuma, Arizona for 28 years. They also loved to travel and camp, taking many road trips in their RV and enjoying several ocean cruises and European tours.
After 98 1/2 years, death came peacefully and joyfully to Eldora. At the recent Memorial Day family gathering, sons, Bill (Carol) and Duane (Mary); grandsons, Chad and Kevin (Megan); and newest member, great-granddaughter, Kennedy, all enjoyed each other's company, remembering, telling stories, and laughing. She passed May 30th.
Eldora is also survived by son, CJ (Claudia); two grandchildren, Erin and Bret; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Edward; and grandson, Eric.
A service will be held June 30, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland.
In lieu of flowers or cards, Eldora's family suggests honoring her with a contribution to Ashland Community Hospital Foundation's Lights for Life Program, P.O. Box 98, Ashland, OR 97520.
