Time to rev those engines

    The 32nd annual Medford Cruise will devote an entire week to "all things classic cars," kicking off June 10 and running through June 17.

    On Saturday and Sunday, June 10-11, Bash to the Future 5 Drift Event will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jackson County Sports Park in Central Point. Touted as the largest drift event in the Northwest, drivers from around the country will showcase a sport made popular by the "Fast and Furious" movie franchise. Admission is $15; $10 for a pit pass and a closer look.

    Show 'n' Shine car shows will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, June 13-16, at various Medford locations. It's only $5 to show your ride, and there are no restrictions on year. Each night will feature a make and model of car known as a mark. All shows are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. See medfordcruise.org.

    The Scott Valley Bank Chevy Show will be held June 13 at Lava Lanes, 2980 Crater Lake Highway, followed by a karaoke contest from 7 to 10 p.m.

    The Northwest Autohaus Sports Cars Show will be June 14 at Rogue Credit Union South Medford, 1370 Center Drive.

    The Lithia Superstore MOPAR Show will be June 15 at the Lithia Superstore, 4540 Grumman Drive.

    The Pacific Power Ford and Hot Rod Show will be June 16 at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park, 334 Holmes Ave.

    From there the Medford Cruise will fill the valley with show 'n' shines, concerts, drags, a drive-in movie, a poker run and the big downtown cruise.

    On Friday, June 16, Southern Oregon Signs' Poker Run will start at 9 a.m. at Punky's Diner in the Medford Center. This year, the tour will follow Highway 66 to visit the Applegate Trail, Green Springs Inn and Howard Prairie Resort before dropping back into the Rogue Valley to parade the cars for vets at the Veterans Administration Rehabilitation Center in White City. The first poker hand is free; extra hands are $5. Anyone in any vehicle may participate.

    Lava Lanes' Stoplight Drags for cars from 1979 or older will start at 5 p.m. Friday and run until all drags are completed at Champion Raceway in the Jackson County Sports Park. It's $40 to drag. Registration is at 3 p.m. Spectator admission is $20, $5 for ages 8 through 12. Kids 7 and younger get in free.

    The East Main Band and Sound Stage Revue will perform music from the '50s and '60s at 7:30 p.m. June 16 at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park. Admission is free.

    On Saturday, June 17, Ed's Point S Tire and Auto Service's '79 and older show 'n' shine will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park. Registration is $50, which includes the downtown cruise, and can be purchased from 7 to 10 a.m. Friday at Punky's Diner or 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the park. The car show is free to attend.

    Travel Medford's '80 and newer car show will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park. It's $30 to show and get a free T-shirt. The show is open to motorcycles, cars, boats, trucks, SUVs and even bicycles. Trophies will be awarded. Admission is free.

    Rogue Credit Union's Downtown Cruise — the event that started the annual celebration of all things on wheels 32 years ago — will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in downtown Medford. The cruise begins at Heritage Motors on Central Avenue, turns on West Main Street, then on Ivy for one block, then east on Sixth Street to follow Front Street back to Second Street and Central. It's $50 to cruise '79 and older classics. Registration is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Heritage Motors.

    Lava Lanes' Moonlight Drags start at 8 p.m. Saturday and run until all are completed at Champion Raceway. It's $40 to drag, and open to all years. Spectator admission is $20, $5 for ages 8 through 12. Kids 7 and younger get in free.

    Rogue Credit Union's and Medford Parks & Rec's Movie in the Park, featuring the 1978 American film classic “Grease,” will be shown at dusk in classic drive-in style at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park. Admission is free.

    Proceeds from the Medford Cruise benefit youth organizations in Southern Oregon, including Sparrow Clubs, Boy Scouts Troop 5, the Boys and Girls Club of Talent, Eagle Point and Hidden Valley Skills USA and Rogue Valley Youth Ensemble. See medfordcruise.org for details.
