GRANTS PASS — The half-brother of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is facing a drunken-driving charge after an arrest in Oregon.
Oregon State Police said Thomas Wayne Markle Jr. was visibly intoxicated when he was pulled over at about 1:30 a.m. Friday in Josephine County. Authorities said his blood-alcohol content was 0.11 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
The 52-year-old from Grants Pass was taken to a detox center, according to the AP.
As of Saturday evening, Markle has not been charged in Josephine County Circuit Court, according to records accessed Saturday evening.
Court records show Markle has no prior criminal convictions in Oregon; however, court records show that Markle had been arrested almost exactly two years prior on a weapons charge that allegedly involved alcohol.
In early 2017, Markle had faced a felony charge of unlawful use of a weapon and misdemeanor count of menacing alleging he pulled a gun on his girlfriend and pressed the weapon up to her on Jan. 12, 2017 at his home, according to an affidavit filed by Grants Pass police. Police recorded a 0.17 blood-alcohol reading when they took Markle into custody.
The Josephine County District Attorney's office had the weapons case dismissed a month later on grounds they were "unable to locate essential victim."
Markle has the same father as Meghan Markle, a former actress who married Prince Harry last May, according to the AP. The prince and duchess are expecting their first child.
The duchess is reportedly estranged from her father’s family. Thomas Markle Sr. said in a television interview last month he had not heard from her since the wedding.
Thomas Markle Jr. did not appear to have a listed phone number, and it was not clear how to reach him for comment.
