Southern Oregon native and former major league pitcher Jeremy Guthrie will speak to youth at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the LDS church, 2305 Taylor Road, Central Point. He will also address the church’s women’s organization, the Relief Society, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the same location. Visitors are welcome at either presentation.

At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, Purim, the holiday that recounts the saving of the Jews from a threatened massacre during the Persian period (539-330 BCE), will be celebrated at the Havurah Synagogue, 185 N.
