A chance to 'read local, buy local'

Community members are encouraged to “read local, buy local” at the Ashland Public Library, which is hosting a local author fair from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the Gresham Room at the library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd.

Whether you’re an avid reader or an aspiring writer, the fair offers a chance to get to know local writers and their work and to purchase signed books to give as unique holiday gifts, organizers say.

More than 25 local authors will be on hand to sell, sign and share their books, with special presentations throughout the afternoon. Free prize drawings will be held every half hour. Admission to the fair is free.

The following authors and publishers are scheduled to attend: Maureen Battistella; Leslie Compton; Craig Comstock; Valerie Coulman; Tod Davies; Steve Dieffenbacher; Kim Griswell; Lori Henrikson; Dave Kahn; Amira Makansi; Jennifer Margulis; Amy Miller; Robin Miller; Virginia Morell; Michael Niemann; Midge Raymond; Ray Rhamey; Dami Roesle; Deedie Runkel; Mark Saunders; Susanne Severeid; John Soares; Molly Tinsley; Pepper Trail; Ellen Waldman; White Cloud Press; Patty Wixon; and John Yonker.

“I love this community author fair!” said Susanne Severeid, author of “Mocha Musings: Reflections on Life, Love, and Chance Encounters.” “Our local Ashland authors are so outstanding and many are nationally known. What a great chance to meet these writers donating their time for our ‘read local, buy local’ event.”

The author fair is sponsored by Jackson County Library Services and the Friends of the Ashland Public Library. For more information, call 541-774-6996.
