Fall and winter carnivals are upon us.

Bellview Elementary School will hold its 78th annual Halloween carnival from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 27, at 1070 Tolman Creek Road, Ashland. Costumes are encouraged. Every kid in a costume gets two free tickets. Tickets are two for $1 and dinner tickets are $2.50. Dinner options include Martolli’s Pizza and Katrina’s Tamales. Activities include carnival games and prizes, face-painting, photo booth, fortune telling, haunted house and cotton candy. Activities take one to four tickets each.

Brookdale Senior Living in Ashland hosts its first event “Howl-O-Ween” dog costume contest and safe, warm and dry trick-or-treat from 1-4 p.m. today, Oct. 27. There will be complimentary food and drawing prizes. Admission to the event is a donation of dog or cat food. Entry into the costume contest is $10. All proceeds from this event will be given to Jackson County Friends of the Animal Shelter.

And, starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, residents of Brookdale Ashland will hand out candy in its lobby. Children and their families are invited to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costume and get lots of treats. Brookdale Ashland is at 548 N Main St., Ashland. Not into costumes and candy? The Siskiyou School will host a Winter Faire from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at 631 Clay St. Admission is free. Activities include holiday shopping, live music, food booths, a silent auction, a marionette show, wreath making, a crystal cookie room, gingerbread houses, jump ropes, pocket person, candle dipping and more.

Walker Elementary hosts its Winter Faire from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at 364 Walker Ave. There will be a photo booth, kids crafts, Gum Drop Shoppe, a silent auction, face painting, carnival games and more. Admission is free, and tickets are 50 cents each.
