First Friday art walk in Ashland

Galleries in downtown Ashland and its Railroad District unveil new exhibits, host art demonstrations and live music from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1. Some artists will be on hand to discuss their work. Art walk maps are available at any of the venues.

This month’s spotlights include a 20th anniversary celebration at Studio A.B. New work by portrait artist Ann DiSalvo and digital artist Bruce Bayard will be available with 20 percent discounts. At 9 a.m. Saturday, June 2, Bayard and musician Todd Barton will host their weekly Control Voltage Therapy music session in the studio’s courtyard. There will be tales of Doppler Dog and other Railroad District Mysteries, audio-video performances and Photoshop demonstrations.

Art photographer Robert Jaffe’s one-man retrospective show will be displayed through July at Studio 151 on Pioneer Street. A reception for Jaffe will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Jaffe’s lens creates gateways to realms of transcendence. His work ranges from close-ups to expansive vistas. He combines technical skill with poetry of vision, transforming the ordinary into extraordinary. Studio 151 hours are noon to 4 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays or by appointment.

Painter Heather Brunetti’s show, “Manifest Magik,” will be displayed at Shepherd’s Dream. Live music will be performed by Siskiyou Violins.

Fine art photographer John Christer Petersen’s new show, “Bandon at Waters’ Edge,” opens at The Photographers’ Gallery inside the Ashland Art Center.
