To celebrate the holidays, Camelot Theatre Company will present the musical, "Brigadoon."

With book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, "Brigadoon" has won multiple Tony Awards each time it has appeared on Broadway.

It premiered in 1947 and was revived in 1957, 1963, and 1981. In 1954, Vincente Minnelli directed a movie version starring Gene Kelly, Van Johnson and Cyd Charisse.

In the foggy Highlands of Scotland, two New Yorkers, Tommy Albright and Jeff Douglas, have lost their way. When the fog lifts, they see the 18th century town of Brigadoon coming to life. There Tommy meets and falls in love with the beautiful Fiona and learns the magical story of the town.

Brigadoon reappears for only one day every 100 years to protect it from being changed by the outside world. None of the people of Brigadoon can be permitted to leave the town or it will disappear forever. An outsider could be permitted to stay if he loved someone enough.

Tommy must choose between remaining with Fiona or returning to the unsatisfying world familiar to him. "Brigadoon's" songs include "Almost Like Being in Love" and "The Heather on the Hill."

"Brigadoon" previews at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 (a fund raiser for JC SART, all tickets are $20) and 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 ($12).

The show opens at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, and runs at 8 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays, Dec. 5-31. There is a pay-what-you-can performance at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, and a special Christmas Eve matinee at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24. New Year's Eve Gala tickets are an additional $25 and include a catered buffet, wine, champagne or cider and dancing with a live combo until 2 a.m. There is no performance Dec. 25.

"Brigadoon" is directed by Camelot's artistic director Livia Genise. Choreography is by Audrey Flint and musical direction is by Meagan Iverson and Aaron Blenkush. Blenkush and Iverson will rotate on keyboards in the orchestra pit, where they will be joined by Karl Iverson on synthesizer.

"Brigadoon" stars Renée Hewitt as Fiona MacLaren, Don Matthews as Tommy Albright, AJ Falk as Jeff Douglas, Rose Passione as Meg Brockie and Elias Alexander as Charlie Dalrymple.

The production team for "Brigadoon" features Camelot's resident designers: costumer Emily Ehrlich Inget; set designer, properties master and master carpenter Don Zastoupil; lighting designer Bart Grady and sound designer Brian O'Connor. Stage management is by Taja Watkins; assistant director is Maya Fein. Elias Alexander and Waylon Lenk are co-dramaturgs.

Tickets are $21 for adults and $19 for students and seniors. Student rush tickets of $10 are available five minutes before show time subject to availability. Reserved tickets are an additional $2. Tickets are available over the phone, at the theater or online at CamelotTheatre.org. Call 535-5250.
