Lisa Koch: Singer and comedian Lisa Koch will perform her quirky songs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Havurah Shir Hadash, 185 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland. This irreverent entertainer delivers a twisted mix of comedy, theater and tunes. With five solo albums to her credit, she’s a former member of comedy duo Dos Fallopia and cult quartet Venus Envy. She’s performed with Steve Martin, Lily Tomlin, Janis Ian and The Indigo Girls, to name a few, and she’s co-written shows such as “The Carpenters: Uncomfortably Close To You,” “Two’s Company, I’m a Crowd,” and “Ham for the Holidays: The Hamchurian Candidate.” Koch is the composer of off-Broadway musical “27, Rue de Fleurus” ... and one of her songs was sampled by Jay-Z. The Second City: The Chicago-based improvisational troupe — acclaimed for such luminaries as John and Jim Belushi, Tina Fey, Julie Louis-Dreyfus, Bill Murray and Gilda Radner — brings a quick-witted cast to present its take on our nation’s peculiarities and foibles at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S.
