Band du Pays Swing

The band — singer Kacie Bower, sax and clarinet player Stephen Gagné, percussionist Jenny Gray, guitarist Tony Brussat and upright bassist Merrill Smith — will perform a mix of swing music for dancing from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Paschal Winery, 1122 Suncrest Road, Talent. Karen Lovely

Portland blues singer Karen Lovely and her band will perform contemporary and roots blues and blues rock at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Roxy Ann Winery, 3285 Hillcrest Road, Medford. Lovely won the International Blues Challenge is 2010, and is a 2018 Blues Blast Music Award nominee for Female Blues Artist of the Year. The Second City

The Chicago-based improvisational troupe — acclaimed for such luminaries as John and Jim Belushi, Tina Fey, Julie Louis-Dreyfus, Bill Murray and Gilda Radner — brings a quick-witted cast to present its take on our nation’s peculiarities and foibles at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Russian String Orchestra

Presented by Chamber Music Concerts, this orchestra will perform music by Elgar, Bekmambetov and Dvorak at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in the Music Recital Hall, 450 S. Mountain Ave., at Southern Oregon University in Ashland. A pre-concert lecture will be offered at 6:30 p.m. in Room 132 of the Music Building. Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon

Conducted by Cynthia Hutton, YSSO kicks off its 2018-19 concert season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in the Music Recital Hall, 450 S. Mountain Ave., at Southern Oregon University, Ashland. The Youth Symphony will perform the overture to Gioachino Rossini’s “The Thieving Magpie” and Carl Maria von Weber’s Bassoon Concerto in F major. The featured soloist is Caleb Hutchings, winner of YSSO’s 2018 Concerto Competition. Look for more music by Youth Symphony brass and clarinets and the Youth Orchestra.
