Spartans send Totems tumbling in overtime

The Southern Oregon Spartans defeated the visiting Seattle Totems 5-4 in overtime on Saturday night to pick up their second straight Western States Hockey League victory.

Axel Low netted the winning goal for Southern Oregon, which led 4-2 entering the third period but allowed a pair of goals that sent the game into overtime.

Low and Keegan Randell scored two goals apiece and Joel Holmberg contributed one goal and three assists for the Spartans (11-28-1, 23 points), who gained ground on the Totems (10-22-6, 26 points) in their quest to vacate the basement of the Northwest Division standings.

Austin Toussaint made 34 saves in goal to pick up the win for Southern Oregon, which outshot Seattle 46-38 for the game.
