Rookies play game

PROVO, Utah — Jimmer Fredette's exhibition game for NBA rookies resulted in a 138-128 loss for the host team Thursday.

Tobias Harris and Kawhi Leonard both scored 24 points and Kemba Walker added 23 for the non-Jimmer team in a game that featured eight NBA first-round draft picks and four second-rounders.

Fredette had 27 points and 10 assists, while Blazer draft pick Nolan Smith led the team with 30 points and 13 assists.

Fredette organized the game as a chance to just play basketball and block out the dire news of a potential long lockout of NBA players.

The game drew 11,124 fans and they were there to cheer for Fredette, who was the national player of the year last season with the Cougars.
