Backed by superb pitching, the Medford Rogues put the Lincoln Potters in their rearview mirror early after erupting for six runs in the second inning to pick up their second win in the three-game series in Great West League baseball action at Harry & David Field on Thursday.
Rogues starting pitcher Michael Moore tossed a one-hitter across six innings, allowing three runs — just one earned — to go with four walks and three strikeouts. Jose Chavez surrendered just one hit over the final three innings to earn the save.
The Rogues (2-1) collected six hits in the bottom of the second, highlighted by Chad Pike’s double that brought home Tate Cowden. Josh McIntyre capped the frame with an RBI single that plated Cole Carder, and Josh Congdon scored on the play as well, while McIntyre was caught trying to advance to second base.
McIntyre finished 2-for-4 while Pike and Tanner Cantwell scored two runs apiece.
Charles Middleton provided a two-run home run for the Potters (1-2) in the top of the sixth inning.
