Grimes, Johnson defend kart crowns at Speedway

WHITE CITY — Trevor Grimes defended his crown in the 250 Kart Main Event at the Southern Oregon Speedway on Friday.

After winning his heat race earlier in the evening, he got by runner-up Brionna Fuller to win the 15-lap event. Taylor Fuller took third and Vinny DeBenedetti fourth.

Also trying to repeat as champion was Malachi Johnson in the Beginners Box Stock Main Event. Johnson grabbed the early lead but had to fight off Uriah Sanders who was briefly out in front. Runner-up was Shailene Horn while Sanders took third. Carson Henson and Jayme DeBenedetti finished fourth and fifth, respectfully.

Ryan Hirschbock claimed his first win in the Box Stock Main Event. He was able to stave off Nathan Augustine, who finished second, followed by Fuller, Grimes and Tyler Steinhoff.

UAS Speedway Kart heat winner Larry Fuller also won the main event. He was passed twice along the way but emerged victorious, getting past second-placer Johnny Hoult, Brionna Fuller, Ed Grubb and Lori Fullers.
