Wolff's two goals propel Eagle Point

LAPINE — Erin Wolff's second goal of the game proved to be the game winner as Eagle Point defeated LaPine 3-2 in a nonconference girls soccer match Thursday.

Wolff scored the decisive goal from near the top of the box at the 70th minute when Madison Nahss won a scramble deep in the LaPine zone and passed the ball back.

Wolff, a senior forward, scored early in the second half off an assist from Chelsea Burks to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.

The Hawks opened the scoring at the 31st minute. Eagle Point (2-2) answered five minutes later when Sarah Lilley netted a shot off a crossing pass from Erica Rasor.

The teams went into halftime tied 1-1.

Eagle Point coach Stephanie Pogue had to alter the lineup because two starters and one key reserve were rested to provide more time to heal from injuries. Ellen Radcliffe was moved from the midfield to sweeper and bolstered the Eagles' defense along with Nicole Nunez.

"We controlled the possession almost the entire game," said Pogue. "Their keeper made some clutch saves."
