St. Mary's ends losing streak at Bonanza

BONANZA — Kylee Adderson played flawlessly as the St. Mary’s volleyball team snapped an extended losing streak at Bonanza.
The Crusaders, who hadn’t won on the Antlers’ home court since 2006, ended a seven-match winless streak with a 25-10, 25-12, 25-18 victory Tuesday against the two-time Southern Cascade League champion.
Adderson, a junior middle, pounded 13 kills on 20 swings to go with six blocks and four aces — all team-highs for the seventh-ranked Crusaders (9-2, 2-0 SCL).
“(Adderson) had an amazing all-around match,” said St. Mary’s coach James Joy. “She was putting the ball away very efficiently.”
Junior setter Jordan Jackson also performed exceptionally with 28 assists and three aces.
The Crusaders consistently served well and recorded 10 aces.
“Our serving was tough,” said Joy. “Bonanza had trouble getting their offense in gear. They hit a lot of free balls.”’
Junior libero Samantha Bayer continued her high-level of play with nine digs and effectively handled the serve-receive. Domonique Valdez, a junior rightside, came up with eight digs.
“I would say this is one of our best all-around matches,” said Joy. “The girls really stepped up tonight.”
Skyline Conference
u HENLEY 3, HIDDEN VALLEY 1 — At Murphy, fourth-ranked Henley rallied back from a first-game loss to post a 14-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-19 victory.
The Hornets adjusted defensively to the early success of No. 6 Hidden Valley (19-2, 0-1 Skyline).
Hidden Valley senior outside Lacy Wood had a strong performance with nine kills, six blocks and three aces. Mustangs setter Amanda Doig dished out 19 assists, came up with 15 digs and had three aces.
Sunset League
u CASCADE CHRISTIAN 3, GOLD BEACH 0 — Becca Sellers had 13 kills and Breanna Holtz added 21 assists to guide Cascade Christian to a 25-12, 25-7, 25-7 victory in a Sunset League match.
Nikki Jones had 12 digs and Megan Higday recorded three blocks for the Challengers (5-0, 5-0 Sunset).
u ROGUE RIVER 3, GLIDE 0 — At Rogue River, Alli Ehrhardt had six kills and five blocks to lead Rogue River to a 25-23, 25-15, 25-17 victory over Glide in a Sunset League match.
Jessie Sondag added five kills and three digs, and Jessica Freitas had 10 assists and two aces for the Chieftains (3-4, 2-3 Sunset).
