South Medford senior track and field athletes Ty Boster and Peyton Shipley recently announced their college choices.
Boster, who placed 11th in the 800 meters in the Class 6A state championships with a time of 1 minute, 57.95 seconds, will attend Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
His personal-best time of 1:56.5 was established at the Crater Classic April 14. He cracked the 2-minute barrier five times this season.
He and Shipley, who will attend Southern Oregon University, were on the 4x400 relay team that ran a school-record 3:22.17 and placed fifth at state. They were joined by Reed Hungerford and Austin Boster.
Shipley signed during a ceremony Thursday at South Medford. A sprinter, he competed in both relays and the 200 and 400 at state.
His PRs are 11.53 seconds in the 100, 22.58 in the 200 and 48.81 in the 400.
ALL-STAR SERIES: Several area senior boys basketball players will compete in the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association 46th All-Star Basketball Series June 15-16.
The State-Metro games are for classes 6A and 5A; the small-school series for classes 4A, 3A and 2A features four teams based on geographic regions.
Contests begin at 5 p.m. June 15 at Northwest Christian University in Eugene. They start at 1 p.m. June 16 at Warner Pacific College in Portland.
Playing for the State team in the 6A-5A games will be North Medford wing Kaison Faust and Crater wings Keifer Edwarsd and Mason Vranes.
In the All-Star Series, St. Mary’s will be represented on the South team by guards Gabe Mayer and Jakab Bowling and coach Kevin Dixon.
