Roseburg rolls past North Medford

Roseburg put to rest any doubt about its dominance in Southern Oregon Hybrid volleyball Thursday when the Indians, minus their starting setter, went on the road and swept the league's No. 2 team in convincing fashion.

Roseburg downed host North Medford, 25-13, 25-10, 25-17, to remain unbeaten in the SOH at 5-0 and raise its overall record to 18-2.

Front-line setter Kiana Cash missed the match because of illness, but junior Felicia Sparks moved in and contributed 24 assists.

"I was really impressed at how the girls stepped up," said Indians coach Danielle Haskett. "Felicia did a great job."

Morgan Haskett paced Roseburg with nine kills and 10 digs, and Gabby Kearney had six kills and nine digs. Raluca Gosman added eight kills and Kylie Chong eight digs.

North Medford dropped to 4-2 and 8-5.

CRATER 3, SOUTH MEDFORD 0 — At Central Point, Kelsey Strouse provided a spark on both offense and defense to help Crater take down South Medford in SOH play, 25-22, 25-18, 25-20.

The junior outside hitter had nine kills and 20 digs while senior libero Kelli Gray helped the Comet defense with 22 digs.

Destiny Fahndrich added 17 digs and three kills, and sophomore setter Cassidy Layton tallied 15 assists for the Comets (8-14, 2-7 SOH).

SOH Class 5A

ASHLAND 3, EAGLE POINT 1 — At Eagle Point, junior setter Jordan Tilley had 42 assists, 14 digs and six aces as Ashland clinched the SOH 5A title and a season sweep of Eagle Point, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17, 25-21.

Hannah Borgerson added 11 kills and 16 digs and Hope Baldrica 11 kills and three blocks for the Grizzlies (4-8, 2-0 SOH), who went on a 14-2 run in the fourth set to pull away from the Eagles (1-12, 0-2).

A block by Eagle Point's Kinsey Bradshaw gave the Eagles a 10-5 lead in the fourth, but the Grizzlies scored the next five points, four on Myla Norvell's serve, to reclaim control. Norvell, a freshman, had 18 digs, five aces and five assists.

Skyline Conference

HIDDEN VALLEY 3, PHOENIX 1 — At Murphy, Phoenix put together multiple rallies and played tough defense but poised Hidden Valley's prevailed, 25-19, 25-13, 25-27, 25-19, giving the Pirates their first Skyline loss.

Phoenix's Adriana Mereida-Ford, Sydney Wyncoop and Bailee Tally all had seven kills. Mereida-Ford added eight blocks and Wyncoop had seven.

Ashlyn Flynn was active in the third set with 12 of her 27 total digs for the Pirates (8-3, 4-1 Sky). Phoenix got 38 assists from Karlie Richardson.

HENLEY 3, NORTH VALLEY 0 — At Merlin, North Valley gave Henley three tough sets but couldn't stop the Skyline sweep by the Hornets, who won 25-23, 27-25, 25-20.

For the Knights (3-8, 2-3 Sky), sophomore outside hitter Haleigh Wagman recorded 12 kills and 20 digs.

Knights setter Rashelle Garcia put up 25 assists and three aces while senior libero Kady Kantola pitched in 17 digs.

Southern Cascade Hybrid

CASCADE CHRISTIAN 3, ILLINOIS VALLEY 0 — At Cave Junction, Cascade Christian was lethal from the service line with 22 aces in a 25-7, 25-16, 25-21 SCH triumph.

Trudy Burns and Madigan Smith both registered six kills and five aces for the Challengers (8-5, 4-0 SCH) while Karlee Britton fired six aces. Katelyn Smith added four kills.

Illinois Valley (2-10, 0-4 SCH) was led by Alex LaFlamme, who finished with 10 kills and seven blocks. Theresa Frederick added four kills, and Keyanna Augustadt contributed 15 digs.

LAKEVIEW 3, ROGUE RIVER 1 — At Lakeview, Rogue River (2-5, 1-3 Southern Cascade Hybrid) fell victim to Lakeview's Tori Crumrine, who racked up 14 kills to power the Honkers to a 25-21, 20-25, 25-14, 25-18 victory.

Delaney Hall had nine kills and Megan Muhleman added four blocks for Lakeview (8-4, 3-1 SCH).

BONANZA 3, ST. MARY'S 0 — At Bonanza, St. Mary's was swept in the SCH contest, 25-22, 25-17, 25-18.

The Crusaders dropped to 5-7 and 2-2 in the SCH.
