GP, Crater girl golfers lead way at RVCC

Stella Reaka and Belle Best of the Grants Pass girls golf team shot an 8-over-par 80 in a tournament at Rogue Valley Country Club on Monday.

Two-girl teams played a best-ball format for nine holes, then finished with a scramble.


Crater's Caitlin O’Connor and Haley Brown joined forces for an 82 in the nine-team event.

North Medford’s Dana Jung and Ellysa Rudy tied with Roseburg’s Ally Sanfort and Avry Hansen for third place with 84s.

MARIST INVITATIONAL: At Junction City, Crater finished eighth of nine teams in the Marist Invitational at Shadow Hills Country Club.

Nick Trepanier paced the Comets with a 106.

Marist won the event while Thurston’s Andrew Watts was medalist with a 1-over-par 73.

WESTVIEW 9, NORTH MEDFORD 2: At Hillsboro, North Medford managed just two hits and struck out 12 times at the plate as Westview got the win at Hillsboro Stadium.

Justin Geyer scored both runs for the Black Tornado (1-2), the first on Wyatt Baptiste’s run-scoring triple in the top of the fifth inning and again in the seventh on Tyler Seney’s single.

CASCADE CHRISTIAN 7, KLAMATH UNION 3: Cascade Christian took command with a four-run fourth inning at U.S. Cellular Community Park.

After Klamath Union took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth, Kyle Reece’s two-run single put the Challengers (2-1) in front, 3-2. Joel McLemore later singled home Reece and crossed home plate himself on an error.

CASCADE CHRISTIAN 16, KLAMATH UNION 0, 5 inns: Shaylee Ledesma tossed four shutout innings and Cascade Christian provided plenty of offensive support for their first win at U.S. Cellular Community Park.

Before being relieved by Mia Mayben in the fifth inning, Ledesma allowed just one hit and struck out 10.

Ledesma and Allison Winter drove in three runs apiece. Ledesma, Winter and Mallory Meilicke registered two hits each for the Challengers (1-2).
