EAGLE POINT — Junior midfielder Alex Rodriguez dished out two assists and was one of three Eagle Point players with two goals as the Eagles steamrolled Pleasant Hill 7-0 in nonconference boys soccer action Wednesday at Eagle Stadium.
Rodriguez had two goals and one assist in the first half, after which the Eagles (2-0) led comfortably 4-0.
Junior forward Jaydyn Budrow added two goals and one assist, sophomore forward Martin Munoz Escott two goals and junior defender Alonso Avila-Pantonja one goal for Eagle Point.
Pleasant Hill suffered the lopsided defeat two days after opening its season with a 9-0 victory over South Umpqua.
NORTH MEDFORD 0, LIBERTY 0: At Portland, North Medford sophomore Emily Parker created several scoring opportunities and nearly scored herself and sophomore Taylor Denn controlled the middle of the field as the Black Tornado settled for a draw in the nonconference match in its season opener.
Defensively, North Medford was led by senior captain goalkeeper Brinley O’Neill, who made four saves, including thwarting Liberty on two breakaways.
ST. MARY’S 2, ASHLAND 0: Gabi Castillo and Meghan Michels both scored in the first half to lift St. Mary’s to the nonleague win in a game that was called at halftime due to poor air quality.
Castillo got the Crusaders (1-1) on the board in the eighth minute off an assist by Maddie Wheelock. Seven minutes later, Michels connected off an assist by Emma Bennion.
The game was Ashland’s season opener.
