Crater’s Kindreich signs with Biola

Crater senior Larson Kindreich signed a letter of intent Tuesday to play baseball for Biola University, a private, Evangelical Christian university in La Mirada, California.

Kindreich helped lead the Comets to the Class 5A state championship game last year as their top pitcher, finishing with a record of 11-2 with two saves. He allowed 18 runs, 13 earned, over 75 1/3 innings for an ERA of 1.21. He gave up 52 hits and 18 walks while striking out 121 as Crater went 26-5. The Comets lost to Churchill in the title game.

Kindreich was also the Comets’ leadoff hitter, averaging .359 in hitting, .543 in slugging and .560 on-base. He led the team with 42 runs scored, driving in 27, with nine doubles, one triple and two home runs.

Biola is a provisional member of the 14-team, NCAA Division II PacWest Conference, currently in the second of a three-year membership process. Last year the Eagles finished tied for second in the NAIA Golden State Athletic Conference with a record of 19-11.
