CC's McMahon the unanimous league MVP

Cascade Christian senior outside hitter Caroline McMahon was the unanimous most valuable player and CC coach Rob Kleker was named coach of the year as the Challengers fared well in Far West League all-star voting.

McMahon, who guided the Challengers to a Class 3A state runner-up finish, was one of three Cascade Conference players to make the FWL’s first team in a vote by the league’s coaches. Also earning first-team honors for the Challengers were senior middle blocker Kaylee Cannon and sophomore setter Taylor Cave.

South Umpqua’s Shalyn Gray was named the defensive player of the year and her teammate, Sydnie Johnson, was the setter of the year.

Earning second-team honors for St. Mary’s were senior middle blocker Katie Rietmann and junior outside hitter Natalie Thickett.


Player of the year: Caroline McMahon, Cascade Christian.

Defensive player of the year: Shalyn Gray, South Umpqua.

Setter of the year: Sydnie Johnson, South Umpqua.

Coach of the year: Rob Kleker, Cascade Christian.
