BOYS BASKETBALL: North finishes strong

PORTLAND — Garrett Parker sank four 3-pointers in the first half to spark a 48-4 North Medford run that gave the Black Tornado a 76-35 victory over Reynolds in the final day of the Lakeside Classic on Sunday at Lakeridge High School.

Parker finished with 14 points, all in the opening half, Jaray Thomas had 14 points and four assists and North Medford picked up its third win in a row to get back to .500 at 4-4.

Darrius Wells added six points, four steals and four assists, Elias Spence scored 11 and 13 players entered the game for the Black Tornado.

“We started doing our stuff and obviously our pressure started getting to them,” said North Medford coach Scott Plankenhorn, whose team shot 53 percent from the field (31-for-58). “Then in the third quarter we really came out and had a great first few minutes. The guys were locked in.”

Reynolds (1-9) was led by senior forward Sterling Bell, who scored 15 points.

North Medford hit 9 of 24 from long range.
