Bonsi, Crusaders run over Bobcats

Anthony Bonsi rushed for 300 yards and four touchdowns to power a potent running attack by St. Mary's against Myrtle Point at Spiegelberg Stadium on Saturday.

The Crusaders (3-1) ran the ball 38 times overall for 508 yards to overpower the Bobcats en route to a 69-30 nonleague football victory.

Denten Edwards, who was 0-for-1 passing for St. Mary's, got the Crusaders rolling with a 26-yard touchdown run and then added a pair of 20-yard scoring runs. The 6-foot junior finished with nine carries for 112 yards and totaled four TDs after returning a fumble 12 yards for a score.

Bonsi's 59-yard TD run allowed St. Mary's to open a 35-18 lead by halftime. The 5-10, 175-pound senior added scoring runs of 14, 52 and 38 yards in the second half.

Myrtle Point (3-1) was led by Thomas Nathan, who carried the ball 20 times for 243 yards and four TDs and caught four passes for 88 yards. One reception resulted in a 74-yard scoring strike from Cooper Stateler.

Conor Rimov returned a block punt 2 yards for a touchdown and Spencer Cox scored on a 47-yard run to balance out the scoring for St. Mary's.

Girls Water Polo

ASHLAND SWEPT — At Roseville, Calif., Ashland lost to Carondelet, Calif., 11-8, and fell to Oakridge, Calif., 18-6, to wrap up at the Woodcreek Tournament.

The Grizzlies went 1-3 in the tourney.

Against Carondelet, Sadie Kasiah recorded five goals, five steals and one assist and Maddy Longshore three goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Kaya Boehm made eight blocks.

Against Oakridge, Sabrina Scoggin had four goals, Kasiah one goal, three steals and two assists and Longshore one goal. Boehm recorded six blocks.
