Two members of South Medford’s Southwest Conference baseball championship team and two from Crater’s Class 5A titlist have been chosen to play in the Freightliner Oregon All-Star Series June 23-24 in Corvallis.
The series is for class 6A and 5A seniors.
Playing for the South team will be South Medford pitcher Brandon Letendre and outfielder Jacob Melton. Their all-star teammates will include Crater infielders Nick Bastendorff and Trae Frodge.
Grants Pass outfielder Tyler Rund is also on the South roster.
The North and South will play a single game at 7 p.m. June 23 at Oregon State’s Goss Stadium and a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. on June 24.
Class 4A Baseball
WATTS CHOSEN: Phoenix’s Brennen Watts has been chosen as a second-team Class 4A all-state baseball player and will participate in the state all-star baseball series for Class 4A seniors the weekend of June 18-19 in Roseburg.
An infielder, Watts batted .517 for the Pirates.
In all-state voting, Watts’ teammate, junior outfielder Mason Stella, received honorable mention.
Hidden Valley senior first baseman Kolton Fisher was second team and Hidden Valley senior catcher Vincent DiMatteo was third team.
Fisher and DiMatteo will play in the all-star series, along with Mustangs teammate Cole Lawson, a pitcher.
ROGUES WIN BY FORFEIT: At San Francisco, the Medford Rogues earned a Great West League forfeit win against the San Francisco Seals Tuesday.
The Seals split their team for games in Yreka,California, and Palm Springs, California, and didn’t have enough players available for the Rogues.
The result evened Medford’s record at 4-4. San Francisco, which won Monday’s two-game series opener, 5-4, dropped to 2-5.
The Rogues next visit Klamath Falls Thursday to begin a three-game series against the Gems.
