Totems breeze past Spartans

SEATTLE — Seattle scored four goals in the first period and that was all the Totems would need in a 7-3 Western States Hockey League victory over the Southern Oregon Spartans Thursday at Olympicview Arena.

The Spartans dropped to 3-6 in the Northwest Division, and first-place Seattle improved to 5-2.

Southern Oregon got goals from Rhys Cottle, Miroslav Smid and Logan Emery. Assists were credited to Axel Low (two), Michele Vignoli Sanin and Jeffrey Gula.

Micheal Shippee of Seattle had a hat trick and provided three assists for good measure. The Totems’ Gabriel Sbop added two goals.
