Spartans bounced by Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, Washington — One day after snapping its eight-game losing skid, the Southern Oregon Spartans dropped back into the losing column, falling 7-4 to the Bellingham Blazers on Saturday night.

Keegan Randell had two goals while Joel Holmberg added a goal and an assist for the Spartans (2-12), who sit in last place in the Northwest Division of the Western States Hockey League.

Southern Oregon led 3-2 after the first period but never held the lead again after being outscored 3-0 in the second.

Austin Toussaint, who made 34 saves, took the loss in goal for the Spartans.

Ilya Abubakirov had two goals and an assist for the Blazers (4-5), who improved to 3-2-2 at Bellingham Sportsplex, where the two teams will wrap up their three-game series today at 1:35 p.m.
