Scott sharp as Crater tops South

Ethan Scott threw six shutout innings and Garrett Dance provided a two-run double during a five-run first inning for Central Point’s American Legion A squad in a 9-0 victory over host South Medford on Monday.

Scott struck out three and allowed six hits and one walk before being lifted by Blake Hollingsworth in the seventh.

Dance finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Andy Lacey, Hayden Glatte and Jacob Memmott all scored twice for the Comets (2-0, 1-0 Area 4 South Division), who capitalized on 10 walks issued by the Colts.

The Colts picked up two hits apiece from Mason MacLeod and Steven Ledendecker.

PHOENIX PIRATES 8, ASHLAND PILOTS 1: At Phoenix, Liam Serean tossed a gem for Phoenix and was backed by Freedom Martinez, who scored four times in the contest to power the Pirates past Ashland.

Serean went the distance, striking out seven and allowing one unearned run on six hits and two walks.

Martinez went 2-for-4 for the Pirates, who benefited from five Pilot errors.

Evan McLennan went 2-for-3 and scored Ashland’s lone run.
