Rogues hit past Pickles

PORTLAND — The Medford Rogues pounded out 12 hits in a 12-4 win over the Portland Pickles during Great West League play on Wednesday night.

Johnny DeLaCruz was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Clay Valenzuela-Reece 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs for the Rogues (25-9).

Caleb Smith finished 2-for-4 with three runs and Alex Isola 2-for-5 with four RBIs against the Pickles (14-19).

NORTH JACKSON 9-13, PHOENIX 7-0: At Talent, Eagle Point earned the Area 4 sweep.

In Game 1, Jake Leeper was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, Andrew Schreiner 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Clayton Fraughton 2-for-4 for North Jackson (11-12, 11-9 Area 4).

In the second contest, Domenic Fontana and Schreiner combined on a no-hit shutout with five strikeouts and three walks.

Schreiner finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, Kolbi Blevins 3-for-4 with two RBIs, John Alves 3-for-5, Justin Pugh 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Leeper 2-for-4.

CENTRAL POINT 14-12, ASHLAND 3-1: At Central Point, Central Point swept the Area 4 doubleheader.

In the opener, Larson Kindreich was 2-for-3 with two runs and Ike Gilliland 2-for-4 with two runs for the Comets (11-8, 8-4 Area 4).

In Game 2, Blake Hollingsworth finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs for Central Point and Evan McLennan was 2-for-3 for Ashland.

ASHLAND 21, HERMISTON 11: At Grants Pass, Ashland won the age 13 and under state title.

Toby Barnes had four hits, including a grand slam, Jackson Kemper recorded four hits and Jude Vandersnick, Ean Lawrence, Ian McKenna-Woods and Aiden Hadley added three hits apiece.

Lawrence picked up the victory after striking out eight in 3 ⅔ innings.
