Mustangs romp to sweep of Redmond

REDMOND — Jared Adamson went 5-for-6 and smacked two home runs to lead the Medford Mustangs American Legion AAA baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of the Redmond Panthers on Wednesday.

Adamson had two RBIs and hit a solo homer in Medford's 7-4 victory in the opener, then was part of a 14-hit attack in the Mustangs' 15-2, five-inning romp in Game 2.

Pitcher Charlie Sebrell went the distance in Game 1, giving up seven hits and striking out nine to improve to 2-2 on the season.

Also in the first game, Logan Boyd went 3-for-5 with an RBI, Kory Locken was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Trent Smith went 2-for-4.

Kody Stevens ripped a two-run homer in Game 2 to highlight a seven-run outburst in the third inning that put Medford up 9-2.

Boyd added to his stellar day with three hits in five plate appearances, while Jordan Bostwick went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Zack Earle was 3-for-4 with four RBIs.

The Mustangs (14-4) get back into Area 4 play on Friday with a doubleheader at Klamath Falls.
