EUGENE — Eugene's Joe Schindler won a pitchers' duel against Medford's Nate Namanny, 2-1, to complete an Area 4 sweep for the Challengers Tuesday at Swede Johnson Stadium.
The Challengers edged the Mustangs 9-8 in 11 innings in the opener.
In the nightcap, Schindler struck out six with one walk and scattered seven hits in the complete-game effort. Namanny (0-1) was nearly as good, also striking out six and walking one, but surrendering two runs on three hits in the decisive third inning.
Medford (8-5, 0-2 Area 4) scored its only run in the first when Seth Brown doubled home Colin Sowers.
In Game 1, Billy Hansen's sacrifice bunt drove in Lucas Stone, who led off with a double, and put Medford ahead 8-7 in the top of the 11th inning.
Eugene's Shaun Boehm ended the game with a two-run single to right with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th.
Brown, who owns a 12-game hitting streak, was 3-for-6 with two runs and an RBI and Cody James finished 3-for-6 with two RBIs in the opener. Sowers, Kameron Kaufman, Stone and Hansen all went 2-for-4.

NORTH MEDFORD 10-20, SOUTH MEDFORD 9-8 — David Crofton and Charlie Walker each belted two home runs in the first game to rally North Medford past South Medford, and the Mavericks used a 16-run outburst in the fifth inning of Game 2 to clinch the Area 4 sweep.
Walker, who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and five RBIs, crushed a three-run shot in the seventh inning of Game 1 with his team trailing 9-5. Crofton followed that up with a two-run homer to give North (11-5, 9-3 Area 4) a lead that it would not relinquish.
Crofton, who was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs, also hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Walker added a two-run shot in the first.
Nate Walker, Jimmy Sporer and Jake Perry all had two hits for the Colts in Game 1.
In Game 2, South led 7-4 entering the top of the fifth when North erupted for 16 runs to trigger the mercy rule.
Bryan Carbonell recorded two doubles and three RBIs, Taylor Raff was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Hayden Evans went 2-for-5 with four RBIs and AJ Miller and Kyle Packard both turned in two hits.
Austin Reames finished 4-for-4 and Jack Walker and Sporer both offered two hits for South in the nightcap.
The Colts (9-3), who struggled on the mound, allowed 11 walks and hit four batters in Game 2.

GRANTS PASS 16-3, CC-St.M-RR 1-4 — Pitcher Luke Dusenbury kept Grants Pass off balance and Brian Stinchcomb and Conner Engle came up with a pair of key hits in the sixth inning to help Cascade Christian-St. Mary's-Rogue River take the nightcap victory and clinch the Area 4 split at Harry & David Field.
Stinchcomb hit a two-run triple to right field and Engle added an RBI single in the sixth inning of Game 2 to give the Wolfpack (3-7) the lead.
Dusenbury, showing good change of speed, allowed six hits. Ben Zomerdyk went 3-for-3 in the second game for the Wolfpack.
Andrew Martin's three-run home run in first inning and pitcher Matt Cole's three-hitter highlighted the Diggers' 16-1 win in Game 1.
Martin and Cole both had three hits.

NORTH JACKSON 13-0, NORTH COOS 2-4 — At Eagle Point, Brandon Wilson and Cody Pfister led North Jackson to an easy win in the opener, but North Coos pitcher Clint Burris turned the tables in Game 2 in a nonleague doubleheader Monday at The Yard.
Wilson and Pfister each were 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI to lead the Eagles (5-7) in the first game. Evan Jolliffe added a two-run triple in the fourth.
In the nightcap, Burris had six strikeouts while holding North Jackson scoreless through the first three innings and helped his own cause by belting a home run.
