KLAMATH FALLS — As one of seven representatives for the Medford Rogues in Monday’s Great West League All-Star Game, Cole Carder shined by helping propel the North team to victory.
Carder hit the second of back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning as the North grabbed control and began to pull away for a 10-4 victory over the South in eight innings at Kiger Stadium.
The former South Medford star’s blast gave the North a 5-2 lead following Cole Lemmel’s two-run shot that broke a 2-all tie.
Carder was 1-for-3 and scored twice while Lemmel, of the Chico Heat, had two home runs and finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs.
The Rogues’ Tommy Ahlstrom also helped the North by going 2-for-4 while Medford teammates Tony Barrios and Gabe Smith pitched an inning apiece.
Barrios entered the game in the second inning and struck out two and allowed one run on one hit. Smith tossed a perfect seventh inning.
Rogues outfielder Kody Garvin and pitchers Tanner Simpson and Chase Spinning were All-Stars but didn’t get in the contest that was cut short because of smoky conditions.
Representing the Klamath Falls Gems on the North team, former St. Mary’s standout Travis Danielson went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Also for the North, Mike Hicks was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, Brandon Stewart was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run and Stewart Kimura finished 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.
