McIntyre, Pike lead Rogues past Gold Sox

Josh McIntyre and Chad Pike had three hits apiece, Cole Carder drove in three runs and the Medford Rogues jumped out to a 6-2 lead through six innings en route to a 9-5 Great West League victory over the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox on Wednesday at Harry & David Field.

McIntyre went 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, Pike 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Rogues starter Kolby Button held Yuba Sutter to two runs on five hits through the first six innings before Medford’s bullpen took over.

Yuba Sutter scored two runs in the top of the eighth to cut the deficit to 7-5 and looked to get closer with the bases loaded, but Rogues’ reliever Robby Ahlstrom escaped via an inning-ending ground out and Medford (8-6) tacked on two more insurance runs in the bottom of the inning.

Brandon Bena, Tommy Ahlstrom and James Bell had two hits apiece for the Rogues, who had six extra-base hits on the day.

Darrel Doll went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Gold Sox (3-9).

ASHLAND PILOTS 9, HIDDEN VALLEY 7: At Grants Pass, Ashland scored a pair of runs in the top of the seven to break a 7-all tie to complete a late-game comeback.

Ashland catcher Isaac Evans, who got the rally going with a two-out walk, scored what proved to be the game-winning run on a Hidden Valley error. Leadoff man Rowan Amann gave the Pilots a two-run lead with an RBI single to center field.

Amann, Nick Buccino and Evan McLennan all drove in a pair of runs in the win for Ashland (3-1 overall), which fell behind 3-0 in the first inning before scoring five runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to tie the game.
