Mavericks rally twice to down the Eagles

A pair of late surges in both games of its doubleheader carried the North Medford American Legion A squad to a sweep of North Jackson in its regular-season finale on Monday.

The state tournament-bound Mavericks pounced on the Eagles for 6-4 and 8-6 victories at North Medford High.

North Medford (44-16, 3-6 Area 4), which finished second in the Area 4 play to Central Point, heads into Wednesday's opening round contest against Roseburg Premier Insurance as the No. 2 seed from the South Division. First pitch is slated for 9 a.m. at Clyde Allen Field in Coos Bay.
