Local swimmer Aaron Ghiglieri was recently named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

The 16-year-old Cascade Christian junior swims for the Superior Stingrays club.

The Scholastic All-America squad is made up of high school students who have a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher and who have achieved the required time standard in a single event.

To be eligible for the recognition, swimmers must have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade and be a USA Swimming member.

Ghiglieri competed at the 2010 Speedo Junior National Championships Aug. 9-13 at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Complex in Irvine, Calif. He swam in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly preliminary races.

He qualified for junior nationals at Mount Hood Aquatic Center last season.
