Former North star Shipley named to WAC second team

RENO, Nev. — Former North Medford High baseball standout and University of Nevada freshman Braden Shipley was named to the Western Athletic Conference second team.

He was one of five Nevada players who earned all-conference honors.

Shipley started 42 games at shortstop and posted the 11th-best batting average in conference play at .344. He finished the season hitting .271 overall with six doubles, 17 RBIs and 15 walks for the Wolf Pack.

Nevada (24-31) saw its season come to an end after falling to San Jose State 11-3 in a WAC Tournament elimination game in Mesa Ariz., on Friday.
