Young boxers headed to regionals

Three Spartan Boxing Club fighters will compete in the Silver Gloves regional championships following state competition last weekend in Jacksonville.

Ava Deland, Uriel Ibarra and Malaya Wohosky each won fights on Saturday at The Schoolhaus Brewhaus to advance to regionals in Boise, Idaho, in January.

Several adult boxers won match fights as well.

Deland, 11 and 85 pounds, won with a technical knockout in the second round over Lineah Charlton of Portland.

Ibarra, 13 and 80, triumphed with a unanimous decision over Brandon Soto of Portland.

Wohosky, 12 and 85, took her bout with a unanimous decision against Alexi Garcia of Eugene.

Leo Ibarra, 8 and 45, lost by split decision to Ismael Cabrera.

In adult matches, Ximena Millan, 20, decisioned Madison Sexton, 26, in a matchup of Spartan fighters at 130 pounds.

The Spartans’ Richerd Carranza, 30 and 135, won a TKO over Christian Torrico.

Spartan Scottie Stockman, 24 and 150, earned a unanimous decision over Luis Villa.

Spartan Rosie Converse, 31 and 175, decisioned Crisol Valencia.

Spartan Wes Hunt, 28 and 175, won a split decision over Joshua Chapron.
