Battle at the Border coming up

WHITE CITY — The Roger Lorenzini, Sr. Battle at the Border two-day event is set for this Friday and Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway.

The race is the final event of the 2010 season.

Roger Lorenzini, Sr. was an icon of dirt track racing in Northern California and Southern Oregon for many years. His son and grandson followed in his footsteps, making racing a true family affair.

The race pits late models from California and Oregon in two-day competition, which ends with a $3,000 prize for the winner on Sunday evening. The vehicles sport 700-plus horsepower.

Tangent's Trevor Glazer and Rob Mayea, of Bend, are two of the Oregon favorites, both having previously won events at Medford.

Also on the program are Modified Super 4's.

Gates open each day at 4 p.m., with racing at 6. General admission on Friday is $15 and Saturday is $20.00. Save $5 with a two-day pass for $30. Seniors, children ages 7-12 and military members with identification receive a $3 discount each day. Children ages 6 and under are free.
