KLAMATH FALLS — Alexander Orejudos singled home Garret Lakes to cap a five-run, ninth-inning rally as the Klamath Falls Gems stunned the Medford Rogues, 11-10, in a wild Great West League game Thursday night at Kiger Stadium.
Trailing 10-6 entering the final frame, the Gems opened the ninth with four straight singles, including a two-run hit by Brice Foster. Medford (11-9) still led 10-8 after recording two outs, but Troy Simpkins followed with a two-run single to tie the game and bring up Orejudos with Lakes representing the go-ahead run at third. Facing Rogues reliever Gabe Smith, Orejudos worked the count to 2-2 before coming through with the game-winning hit.
Third baseman Blake Bumgerner went 3-for-5 with a home run and three runs scored to lead the Rogues, while Riley Kasper had two doubles and an RBI.
For the Gems, Troy Simpkins went 4-for-6 with two RBIs and Lakes homered and walked twice.

SOUTH EUGENE 8, NORTH MEDFORD 3: At Eugene, South Eugene used a two-out rally to score four runs in the fourth inning and take control on the second day of the Best of the West tournament at Swede Johnson Stadium.
North Medford’s A.J. Balsinger surrendered one earned run on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings but was tagged with the loss in a game that saw the Mavericks (6-3) commit seven errors, including two in the fourth inning.
Devon Grafton went 2-for-2 with a run scored and a sacrifice fly to lead North, which will face Cottage Grove/Junction City today at 10:30 a.m.
