Trojans rally from five down, sweep Beavers

LOS ANGELES — Hector Rabago singled to center to drive in the winning run with two outs in the ninth inning as Southern California defeated Oregon State 6-5 on Sunday to complete a sweep of the three-game Pacific-10 Conference series between the two schools.

Joe De Pinto walked to start the ninth off closer Kevin Rhoderick (0-1). He moved to second on a sac bunt by Anthony Vasquez, and then to third when Mike O'Neill singled.

Oregon State (25-23, 11-13 Pac-10 Conference) jumped out to a five-run lead after three innings, highlighted by Jordan Lennerton's fifth home run of the season in the second. Daniel Robertson began the game's scoring by driving in a run with a two-out single through the left side in the first.

Lennerton made it 3-0 when he hit a towering shot to right field to tie Joey Wong and Ryan Ortiz for the team lead. It scored Drew George, who had led off the inning with a walk.

OSU made it 5-0 in the third. John Wallace reached on a fielder's choice and scored when the next batter, Robertson, roped a triple down the right field line. He scored, when George flew out to left for a sacrifice fly.

USC (27-26, 10-11 Pac-10) sent 10 batters to the plate during the frame, posting four runs on four hits. The Trojans tied the game in the fifth. Rhoderick hit the second batter he faced, Robert Stock, with the bases loaded. But Rhoderick was able to get out of the inning when inducing Nick Buss into a flyout.
