Saturday provided a day of ups and downs for the Rogue Community College soccer programs, with the men’s team posting a 2-0 triumph over Southwestern Oregon Community College and the Osprey women’s team dropping a 3-1 match to their SWOCC counterparts at U.S. Cellular Community Park.
Brandon Sauceda scored a pair of goals to pace the RCC men (7-8-1, 5-7-1 NWAC), tallying in the 15th minute and later in the 40th minute off an assist by Marco Perez. Sauceda raised his season total to 17 goals.
Derian Saldana earned the shutout in goal for the Ospreys with six saves.
Samantha Lilley scored the game’s first goal for the RCC women after receiving an assist from Courtney Paquette in the 21st minute, but SWOCC quickly answered with a goal and added another before the half for a 2-1 edge.
Alcyea Jones recorded 10 saves for the RCC women (4-7-1, 4-5-1).
Both RCC soccer teams return to action Wednesday with matches at Lane Community College before the regular season wraps up Saturday at Chemeketa.
