No. 14 Raiders take down Beacons

ASHLAND — The 14th-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team rebounded from a lackluster first set to score a 25-22, 25-15, 25-9 victory over Northwest Christian Friday at McNeal Pavilion.

Southern Oregon is 10-2, 7-0 in the Cascade Conference. Northwest Christian is 4-8 and 1-5.

SOU's Sarah Holgen led all players with 14 kills and just two errors. Senior Lindsey Stone finished with a match-high 35 assists, and junior Lauren Swetland had five of SOU's 13 blocks.

Southern Oregon committed 10 errors and hit minus-.100 in the first game but still managed to win.

After that, SOU started to roll.

The Raiders committed just one error in the second game and hit .538 as a team and then hit a season-best .542 in the third game to claim their fourth straight sweep.

Leanne Stennett led all players with nine digs, while sophomore Natalie Scheller added eight digs and six kills.

SOU hosts Corban tonight at 7.
