MCMINNVILLE — Southern Oregon's Rosie Converse and Alex Waroff rank in the top 10 after Day 1 of the Linfield Multi-Event Championships.
Converse is fifth in the in the heptathlon with 2,016 points, and Waroff is seventh in the decathlon with 2,870 points. Western Oregon's Jacque Helbling leads the heptathlon with 2,411 points, and Linfield's Josh Lovell leads the decathlon with 3,494 points.
Converse was second in the high jump with a leap of 4-101/2. Converse then finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.01) and shot put (28-04.25) and ninth in the 200 (30.06).
Waroff turned in his best performance in the 400 with a time of 53.72. Waroff also finished 10th in the shot put (32-7) and 11th in the high jump (5-61/2), long jump (19-41/4) and 100 (12.07).
Southern Oregon track and field junior Akeem Jackson has been named the Cascade Conference's field athlete of the week. Jackson won the long jump at Sacramento State Saturday with a winning jump and NAIA automatic qualifying standard of 23-91/2.
