ASHLAND — Southern Oregon’s Veronica Coppolino won both of her matches to claim the 143-pound title of the Oregon Women’s Collegiate State Tournament on Sunday at Riehm Arena.
Coppolino, a sophomore from San Jose, Calif., took decisions against two unattached opponents: 6-0 over Melissa Jacobs and 7-0 over Kira Satnick.
Kirra Saunders added a pair of wins at 123 pounds, going 2-2 on the day. She pinned Eastern Oregon’s Roas Ramirez in 1 minute 9 seconds and earned a 14-6 decision against Umpqua Community College’s Jordyn White.
Warner Pacific captured the team title in the five-team tourney.
The Raiders are off until Feb. 5, when they’ll travel to Portland for a dual against WPU.
