Carr nets two as Raiders blank Simpson

REDDING, Calif. — Stephanie Carr netted a pair of goals as Southern Oregon scored a 4-0 victory over Simpson in women's soccer action on Saturday.

Carr scored her first goal at the 23:45 mark to put the Raiders on the scoreboard. In the second half, the Raiders (6-2-1) put the game away by scoring three goals in a span of 16 minutes.

Kennedy Roteman's goal made it 2-0, then Carr found the net again and Denise Powell finished off the scoring.

Jessica Kuehlwein and Devon Walker combined for the shutout for the Raiders, who outshot the Red Hawks 17-1.


SOU 3, CORBAN 0 — At Ashland, Southern Oregon remained perfect in Cascade Conference play with a 25-18, 25-19, 25-20 sweep of Corban at McNeal Pavilion.

Junior Sarah Holgen continued her torrid play with a match-high 15 kills to go along with nine digs. Becky Johnstone led SOU (11-2, 8-2 Cascade Conference) with 19 digs, while Leanne Stennett finished with 13 digs.

After winning the first two sets, the Raiders had trouble shaking the Warriors in the third set until Johnstone served for six straight points to give the Raiders an 18-15 lead.

All-American setter Lindsey Stone added 29 assists and Lauren Swetland had five blocks.

Corban dropped to 5-4 overall and 3-4 in conference.
