Beavers, Ducks have big day

The Oregon State University football program got a big boost over Saturday and Sunday's NFL Draft with a school-record seven players getting selected.

Oregon, too, fared well. The Ducks had six players chosen, which ties a program record.

For the Beavers, wide receiver Sammie Stroughter was taken in the seventh round by Tampa Bay to set the mark.

OSU had one player chosen during Saturday's second round.

On Sunday, players taken on the final day included defensive back Keenan Lewis (Pittsburgh) in the third round, linebacker Victor Butler (Dallas) in the fourth round, linebacker Slade Norris (Oakland) in the fourth round, cornerback Brandon Hughes (San Diego) in the fifth round, safety Al Afalava (Chicago, sixth round), and receiver Shane Morales (Arizona), who signed as a free agent.

For the Ducks, who had three players taken in the second round on Saturday, offensive tackle Fenuki Topou (Philadelphia) was selected in the fifth round, defensive tackle Ra'shon Harris was taken by Pittsburgh in the sixth round and defensive end Nick Reed went in the seventh round to Seattle.
